Intake Manifold Replacement (Upper)

Upper Intake Manifold Removal:

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Remove the air intake duct.
  3. Disconnect the spark plug wires from the right side of the engine.
  4. Remove the manifold vacuum source.
  5. Depressurize the fuel lines.
  6. Remove the fuel rail.
  7. Remove the EGR heat shield.
  8. Remove the cable bracket to the cylinder head mounting bolt.
  9. Remove the throttle cable.
  10. Remove the throttle support bracket.
  1. Remove the upper intake manifold.

Upper Intake Manifold Installation:

  1. Install the upper intake manifold gasket.
  1. Install the upper intake manifold.

Upper Intake Tightening Sequence
  1. Install the upper intake manifold bolts and stud. Torque the bolts in sequence to 10 Nm (89 In. lbs.)
  2. Install the throttle body support bracket.
  3. Install the throttle body cable.
  4. Install the cable bracket to the cylinder head mounting bolt.
  5. Install the EGR heat shield.
  6. Install the fuel rail.
  7. Install the manifold vacuum source.
  8. Connect the spark plug wire to the right side of the engine.
  9. Install the fuel injector sight shield. Install the air intake duct.
  10. Connect the negative battery cable.

CAUTION: This engine has two bolts that are hidden beneath the upper intake. These bolts are located in the right front and left rear corners of the lower intake manifold. It is necessary to remove the upper intake manifold to service the lower intake.
